A copper-alloy button of Post-Medieval to Modern date. This button has a diameter of 11.77mm, domed convex front and flat back with a height of 8.36mm. It is likely that the front and back of the button are formed of two separate parts due to the slight groove around the edge of the back. The loop survives intact and has a 'D' shaped cross section. The loop has no shank as the copper-alloy wire is inserted into the back of the button directly after it completes the loop. The wire loop has an external diameter of 4.90mm, has a width of 1.64mm and thickness of 0.95mm. See Bailey, G. Buttons & Fasteners: 500BC - AD1840. 2004, p.77, fig.9.331.
Weight is 2.04g, total height of button including both the button head and bent over attachment loop is 13.49mm.
