An almost complete cast copper alloy Post Medieval mount, possibly c. 17th century in date.
The mount is long and sub-triangular in form with rounded corners, a slightly curved base and an elongated knop at the top. The surface of the mount is worn, with scratches and pitting, and it is not possible to identify any surface decoration. The mount has a dark green patina. The back of the mount has two integral rivets, one towards the point of the mount and one towards the other end, which are both complete and bent away from each other.
The mount is 33.7 mm in length, 7.5 mm in width, 1.8 mm thick and weighs 3.2 grams.
A similarly-shaped mount, dated c. 17th century, is illustrated in Read 2001, p. 37, no. 328
