A cast lead alloy spindle whorl of Roman to later Medieval date (1100 - 1500 AD). The spindle whorl is sub-circular in plan and sub-rectangular in cross-section. The object has a large central circular perforation with an internal diameter of 8.74mm. The upper face of the object is decorated with a series of moulded pellets and radiating lines. The base of the object is undecorated. The object has a light brown patina and has been crudely made.

Similar examples of spindle whorls have reportedly been found in contexts dated from the Roman through to the Post-Medieval period although the majority are typically dated broadly to the Medieval period c.1100-1500.
