A worn silver post-medieval shilling of William III (AD 1694-1702). Date 1696, London mint with milled edge. Similar to Spink (2011) 3497. The staining on this coin's surface matches that of a 1697 William III sixpence (BERK-39D051), suggesting that the two were together in the ground and therefore a potential Treasure case although the finder may have cleaned the coins. A third coin may also have been found with the first two.
