A complete cast copper alloy double loop annular buckle, of Late Post Medieval to Early Modern dating (AD 1650 to c. AD 1750).
The buckle frame consists of a sub annular shaped frame, with double rectangular shaped loops and integrally cast narrowed central bar. The buckle plate and pin are missing, presumed lost in antiquity.
The buckle frame measures 36.24 mm in length, 23.42 mm wide and 2.82 mm thick. It weighs 3.5 g.
The buckle frame is a mid green to brown colour, with an uneven surface patina. Abrasion, caused by movement whilst within the ploughsoil, has resulted in a loss of some of the original surface detail.
A similar buckle frame has been recorded on the PAS database as NMS-572548 and has been dated to the Late 17th to Early 18th Centuries AD.
