A cast copper-alloy key of probable early post-medieval date. It has a kidney-shaped bow with two internal projections opposite the connection with the shank. A solid oval shank with three collars is connected with the bow. The central collar is a barrel moulding while those flanking it are smaller. The shank has suffered an old break before the bit. It is 49.0mm long, 27.7mm wide and 8.23mm thick; a weight was not made on the day. Several similar keys are illustrated in Read's 'Metal Artefacts of Antiquity' (2001, pp. 67-8, 73, fig. 47).
