A complete cast copper-alloy toilet article, probably a Roman or Anglo-Saxon nail cleaner or pick. The toilet article consists of a of a flat semi-circular suspension loop with circular hole, followed by a rectangular collar, all attached to a simple circular-sectioned tapering shaft with a sharp end. The shaft is slightly bent from damage. The nail cleaner or pick has an even dark green patina. The object measures 32 mm long, 2.41 mm wide (at top), 2.41 mm thick and weighs 1.3 grams.
According to Eckardt and Crummy (2007) single picks were rare and instead individuals tended to use bifid nail cleaners. However, such picks seem to be relatively common to Anglo-Saxon collections (cf. Macgregor and Bolick 1993, pp. 216-220).
