FINGER RING

Unique ID: NCL-B7F1A3

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Published Find published

A gold-coloured ring with a cluster of spherical pellets decorating the bezel. The hoop is circular with eight facets, the soldered join of the hoop is visible beneath the pellets.

The ring is undatable and the metal is possibly not gold.

This object has been assessed by multiple British Museum curators (covering the periods of Roman, Byzantine, Early Medieval, Medieval and Post-Medieval) but it has not been possible to attribute a date for this ring.

Notes:

As the find cannot be securely dated to pre-1712 it falls outside the provisions of the Treasure Act 1996.
