FINGER RING

Unique ID: BM-F9ECF6

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

An incomplete gold finger ring of post-medieval date. The finger ring is D shaped in cross section with a flattened external face. Located on the external edge are six silver raised rectangular projections, each has a central circular recess. Each projection would have held an uncertain, probably semi-precious stone, one survives, one appears to be incomplete and four are missing. The band is decorated with two diagonal incisions forming a V on the reverse of each of the silver rectangular projections.

The external band has a raised inscription 'MON COEUR EST A TOI' (My heart is yours); The C and E of COEUR are ligated. The inscription is formed from serif lettering which suggests a post-medieval date.

Notes:

This finger ring was reported to Britain's Secret Treasures (July 2012). The finger ring has been recorded via information provided over email, some details may be missing. The images supplied by the finder.
