TREASURE ITEM 2012 T628: Fragment of a gold strip with the longest edge deliberately and neatly folded. The other edges are damaged and are most likely not deliberate. 8mm up from the longest edge is a line of small punched dots such that the folded edge appears on the same side from which the punching has been carried out. There is a small hole in the top right of the piece that is probably not deliberate. A similar gold strip was found in East Lindsey, Lincolnshire PAS ID YORYM-AECC98.
Date: In all likelihood the piece is more than 300 years old. However it is not possible to assign this fragment to a firm cultural or chronological context.
Dimensions: Maximum length 32.78mm; maximum width 12.74mm; thickness 0.13mm; weight 0.4g.
In age and precious metal content the object does qualify as Treasure under the terms of the 1996 Treasure Act.
