Medieval cast copper alloy bar mount in the form of a central circular section flanked by two small sub-rectangular outer ends. The centre and end sections are domed with concave backs and convex fronts. The ends each have a pierced hole through though the centre in which a copper alloy rivet sits. The seperate rivets are circular in section and flush with the front of the mount while projecting slightly from the back. The front is decorated with four transverse incised lines across the centre. There are multiple shorter, finer, vertical incised lines crossing the transverse ones. The mount is 18.3mm long, 10.5mm wide, 3.7mm thick excluding the rivets, 4.4mm including and it weighs 1.46g.
This form of belt mount was very popular in the Medieval period and was in use from at least 1150-1450 AD (Egan and Pritchard 1991: pp26 and 214).
