BROOCH
Unique ID: KENT671
Object type certainty: Possibly
?wheel brooch fragment, annular ring with 3 spokes and central perforation, the outer ring has a perforated edge, no visible means of attachment on reverse
Notes:
Hattatt suggests the following references: Hull, pl. 782; Feugere 1985, les fibules en Gaul meridonale. However, C Johns at the British Museum (letter received 4/11/98) says: 'we don't think this is ancient. To me it looks like a component of something functional, e.g. one of a set of cutting plates from hand mincer - they are made of steel, of course, but I think this is something else designed to rotate on a spindle, perhaps some element in an arrangement of cogs'.
