A cast copper alloy suspension mount from a harness pendant, dating from 1350-1450AD. It consists of a copper alloy bar of D shaped section, each end of which is stepped, having rounded shoulders and a blunt, rounded point. There is a single, circular rivet hole at each end of the main bar, separated from it by a single, transverse ridge. The remains of copper alloy rivets are still in place. In the centre of one side of the bar is an integral suspension loop, probably rectangular, but now broken, the lower part of the loop being missing. One end of the mount displays some ferrous staining; elsewhere it has a patchy, light green patina. It is 39.4mm long, 13.7mm wide and 3.8mm thick. It weighs 4.9gm.
Similar mounts are illustrated in Clark (Ed.) 1995, The Medieval Horse and its Equipment, page 69. These are attributed to the late 14th century.
