Dagger quillon. The arms are oval in cross-section, taper to rounded points, and are straight but project at a slight angle towards the side where the blade would have projected. The oval perforation (20 mm x 7 mm ) for the tang is flanked by grooves for the shoulders of the blade. Length 114 mm, maximum width 13 mm, thickness 6 mm. Medieval dagger quillon form is based closely on contemporary sword quillon form. A similar, but larger, sword quillon can be seen in the London Museum Medieval Catalogue, Plate II No. 1, Fig. 5 No. 1, description on p.33 (B306). Probably dates to the 14th century.
