Copper alloy buckle plate, as identified by finder. Cast oval-ended plate with engrailed edges; the other end is slotted and folded over to retain a frame (lost). A pair of rivets of diameter 2.6mm secured the buckle frame, while a rivet of diameter 2.2mm and length 4.7mm with a burred back - probably one of a pair, though the other is lost at a tear in the plate - set centrally at the oval end held the plate to the strap. Now folded. Suggested date: Late Medieval to Post-Medieval, 1400-1600.
Length: circa 39mm, Width: 14.2mm, Thickness (plate): 1.2mm, Weight: 3.99gms.
