A cast copper-alloy bow brooch of Roman date. It is a Wing-and-fanbow brooch. Most of the wings and fan are present together with all of the bow, the rest is missing due to old breaks. It is very worn and difficult to ascertain whether the wings are decorated but there appears to be a single circumferential line on each. The bow is decorated with two transverse lines where it joins the fan and is humped. The fan is decorated with a single line down the centre. There is a ridge on the reverse of the fan where the catchplate has broken off. It measures 26.71mm in length, 16.17mm in width at the wings, 4.93mm in width at the top of the bow, 5.02mm in thickness and weighs 5.74g.
It is similar to examples published by Hattatt (1989), nos 298 and 804.
