A silver-gilt annular hawking ring or vervel inscribed 'William Wollascott of Shinfelde near Readinge in Barcke'

Notes:

Shinfield House was a Wollascott residence from about 1587 when William Wollascott II's son William married Anne Martyn, heiress of the manor of Shinfield, just to the south of Reading.

It seems that William Wollascott II finally received the manor of Shinfield on the death of his wife's father in 1604. William Wollascott II died in 1637 but his son was also a William Wollascott and he died in 1660. This vervel probably relates to the father rather than the son who died aged 23, so it's c1604 to 1637.
