2012 T253 Report on Five Medieval coins from Ansley, Warwickshire
Five Medieval silver pennies of Edward I (1272-1307) and Alexander III (1249-1286) were discovered in close proximity to each other by Messieurs Knight, Caluori and Ostrowski at Ansley, Warwickshire on 26th February 2012. The pennies, from their appearance, are more than 10% silver, and were issued between 1280 and 1286 AD.
The coins close proximity when discovered, the date of the coins and the wear pattern of the coins indicate they were, in my opinion deposited together. As the coins were deposited together, contain more than 10% silver and are more than 300 years old, they fulfil the requirements of the Treasure Act (1996).
