An incomplete post-Medieval cast white metal spherical animal 'crotal' bell (1600-1800 AD).
The sub-rectangular suspension loop at the top is 10.93mm high, 9.21mm wide and 2.86.mm thick and has circular perforation. The upper and lower hemispheres are divided equally by a horizontal circumferential joining rib. At either side of the suspension loop there is a circular sound hole. Prior to being broken there were two sound holes integral with a slit in the lower hemisphere. When complete, each hemisphere was decorated with four equally spaced triple ridged bands aligned vertically.
The bell has a greenish silvery appearance and the breaks appear to be recent. The joining rib has numerous vertical file marks.
