A Late Medieval to early post-Medieval copper-alloy purse frame.
The central 'block' takes the form of a hollow, slightly flattened ovoid. The shaft of the now-missing loop would have been contained within a pair of circular apertures, which are located at the top and bottom of the block, respectively. One of the holes has an inward-sloping edge and is surrounded by iron corrosion; the other hole has vertical sides and no such adhering corrosion. Projecting horizontally from either end of the block is a short, circular-sectioned bar, each of which terminates in an attached (by means of a socket), flattened-spherical knob.
