Medieval cast copper alloy single loop buckle frame. The frame is oval with an offset and narrowed strap bar and an oval expansion in the centre of the outer edge. The oval expansion is decorated on the front with incised diagonal lines in a chevron design. Where it projects beyond the width of the rest of the outer edge it is thinner than the rest of the edge. The plate and pin are missing. It is 11.9mm long, 15.8mm wide and 3.8mm thick; it weighs 1.28 grams.
Egan (1998:91) illustrates a similar example, no.518, with a longer and more rectangular expansion on the outer edge. He suggests (ibid:89) this type (Meols Type 6) dates to the late 13th to early 14th century AD.
