For reverse: R(retrograde), TA(right-side-up), L (right-side-up, but backwards), A I I (retrograde)According to National Finds Advisor John Naylor (pers. comm. 16.3.12): 'There are a number of known coins of Aethelstan with retrograde inscriptions (including circumscription cross types), and this fits well into the pattern. The most similar...is EMC 1009.0334 although the reverse does appear at least partly different...'.
