Post Medieval copper alloy bridle boss. The boss is broadly circular in plan with a raised openwork central dome and a flat outer border. The outer edge of the border is shaped into fourteen projecting fleur de lis linked by lines, evenly spaced around the edge. The rest of the border is decorated with moulded, raised scoll decoration; two curving lines project from the base of each fleur de lis and curve out then back inwards, joining in the centre then curling over; there are pellets in the spaces between the pairs of curled lines.

The central dome is formed of a large fleur de lis with central band and additional moulding on the petals. It is squashing inwards slightly in the centre and the entire piece is slightly bent. There are two circular attachment holes, on at 12 and one at 6 o'clock. The central raised dome has a diameter of 33.3mm and the flat outer border has a diameter of 64.4mm. The border edge has a thickness of 2.9mm, it is 11.0mm thick in total and weighs 46.36g.
Read (1995:149) illustrates a similar example, no.1010, dated to the 17th century.
