A copper-alloy hooked mount of post-Medieval date.
The horizontal top side of the plate has a 'V-shaped' depression at its centre. The long sides of the mount converge towards the bottom, where there is a wider collar with incised transverse groove. The integrally cast hook is of semi-circular section, backward-pointing and terminates in a blunt end. There are the remains of two iron rivets within the plate. The mount measures 36.2mm long, 13.6mm wide, 9.3mm deep (including hook) and weighs 4.21g.
This hooked mount is probably a sword-belt fitting. The suggested date is 16th to 17th century.
