The main body of the escutcheon is sub-rectangular with a rounded base at one end and an expanded flared collar with knoped projection at the other. The profile of the object is wedged being slightly thicker at the knoped terminal and narrowing to the curved base. The reverse is flat but the knop has a slight ridge as well as a worn possible rivet at its centre. The front face of the escutcheon is inscribed with the initials WR with a worn crown-like design above.
The metal has a dark brownish-green patina and survives in good condition.
