An incomplete cast copper alloy buckle of post-medieval date. The object is a roughly half of a double looped asymmetrical buckle with small knops at either end of the narrowed strap bar. The reverse is flat and undecorated.
The metal is a dark blackish-brown colour and is worn. The buckle is 21.2mm long, 17.3mm wide, 2.3mm thick and weighs 1.9g.
A similar example is illustrated in Whitehead, p.91, no.564 and is dated to circa 1575 - 1700.
