A cast copper alloy medieval casket key dating from the 12th to late 14th century AD (Egan et al 1998:111-112). The key has a circular bow, and a shank that is sub-rectangular in plan and circular in section, with a bulbous collar before the bow. The bit is a rectangular tab with a wide cleft in the leading edge. The shank is hollow (although now filled with mud). Similar examples can be seen in Egan et al 1998.
