A copper-alloy mount of post-Medieval (probably 17th century) date.<\/p>\n
The head of the mount is roughly pointed-oval, the irregular edges reflecting the nature of the moulded foliate scrollwork decorating the upper surface. The reverse has a hollow centre, above and below which is a damaged rivet. The corroded surfaces of the mount bear traces of a black coating.
