{"recordID":"488018","finds":[{"created2":"2012 02 10","description":"<p>A copper alloy Roman trumpet brooch dating from 75 - 175 AD. The trumpet head is decorated with enamel. A vertical line divides the head in half and there is a arch shaped cell of blue enamel on each side. There is a pair of yellow triangles above and a pair below. The remaining area have faded red enamel. There is a triple collar either side of the acanthus button which only decorates the front of the bow. The lower bow is faceted, triangular in section with a row of triangular opposed cells of red enamel on each side. The foot is moulded as a lion's paw or maybe a half acanthus, with four toes. The underneath of the foot has a ring cell round a central raised dot, but the enamel does not survive. The catchplate reaches from the acanthus button to the foot and is compete except for the turnover. An integral loop on the back of the head holds the spring of six turns, but the pin is broken. A wire head loop extends into the inside of the spring, forming the axis bar. A band of copper alloy is wrapped round the head loop to for the constriction. The band is decorated with two longitudinal lines and has a gap at the back. A very similar brooch is number 1528 on page 327 of Hattatt which has the same pattern of enamelling. The brooch has a bright green even patina.<\/p>","notes":null,"old_findID":"SWYOR-5313D6","id":"488018","objecttype":"BROOCH","classification":"trumpet","subclass":null,"reuse":null,"created":"2012-02-10 15:01:18","broadperiod":"ROMAN","updated":"2012-02-10 15:05:00","treasureID":null,"secwfstage":"4","secuid":"PAS4F35313D001CB5","findofnote":null,"objecttypecert":"1","datefound1":null,"datefound2":"2011-11-14","createdBy":"516","curr_loc":null,"inscription":null,"reason":null,"subsequentAction":"Returned to finder"}],"record":[{"id":"488018","old_findID":"SWYOR-5313D6","uniqueID":"PAS4F35313D001CB5","objecttype":"BROOCH","classification":"trumpet","subclass":null,"length":"58.73","height":null,"width":"19.11","thickness":"30.15","diameter":null,"quantity":"1","other_ref":"PAS form number 1683","treasureID":null,"broadperiod":"ROMAN","numdate1":"75","numdate2":"175","description":"<p>A copper alloy Roman trumpet brooch dating from 75 - 175 AD.
