STRAP FITTING
Unique ID: NCL-A9A0C0
Object type certainty: Certain
A copper-alloy plate from a strap fitting of probable Medieval date, c. 1200-1500.
The plate consists of a strip of folded copper-alloy, with a front plate and back plate connected by a narrow bridge that functions as a hinge for an attachment. The squared ends are connected by a rivet in each corner. The remains of leather may be found between the plates.
The plate probably does not belong to a buckle as there is no slot in the hinge to take a pin.
