BUCKLE
Unique ID: NCL-A63642
Object type certainty: Certain
A cast copper-alloy double-framed buckle of Post-Medieval date, c. 1600-1700.
The buckle consists of two D-shaped frames, back-to-back, with a projecting central bar. The outer frame each contains a double-moulded collar across the width that acted as a pin rest. Corrosion around the central bar and on one outer frame indicates a now lost pin.
The corrosion is of iron, suggesting the pin was iron. However, this iron pin may be a replacement or repair for an original copper-alloy pin.
