KEY (LOCKING)

Unique ID: NCL-A5E912

Object type certainty: Certain

A cast copper-alloy key of Post-Medieval date, c. 1500-1700.

The key is incomplete, consisting only of the shank and the bit, and missing the loop. The end of the shank bearing the bit is distinguished by a slight swelling and then narrowing. with further moulded constriction separating the shank terminal, which has a circular depression in its tip. The opposite end of the shank has a moulded band with a narrow collar to either side, and then an extension beyond this which probably fit into and through the now missing loop.

The bit is an unelaborated rectangle.
