BROOCH

Unique ID: NCL-A58941

Object type certainty: Certain

A fragment of a cast copper-alloy trumpet brooch of early Roman date, c. 75-200.

All that remains of the brooch is a very worn head and upper bow. The head is very rounded, such that the lugs on the reverse and which retain the base of the hinge pin corroded in place cannot be easily distinguished from the rest of the head. The upper bow is also very narrow and heavily worn, with a break probably occurring just above the bow decoration.

Class: Trumpet
