The moneyer is Abel and the mint is London. This information allows the coin to be identified as belonging to Wren's class 5c (AD.1207) to Class 7a (AD. 1217-1222). Unfortunately the inability to see the portrait detail on the obverse means that the coin cannot be further narrowed down in date. The coin is probably an issue of John (AD. 1199-1216) but could possibly be an issue of Henry III (1216-1272).
This coin is therefore dated AD 1207-1222.","","","2012-02-01 10:16:46","2012-02-01 10:56:00","4","","1","2011-08-06","2011-08-06","","","","1","1","1","1","","","","","","cburrill2","Charlotte Burrill","DENO","cburrill2","Charlotte Burrill","Silver","","","","Cast","","Fragment","Good","Certain","MEDIEVAL","MEDIEVAL","","Metal detector","","Ms Charlotte Burrill","Ms Charlotte Burrill","Ms Charlotte Burrill","DERBYSHIRE","","AMBER VALLEY","","","","","SK3443","SK34SW","","","","","","Duffield Area","From Map","Crowned bust facing (not visible as within the fold of the coin)","[hE]NRICVS[...]","Voided short cross with a quatrefoil in each angle.","ABEL ON LVNDE (pellet stops) ","Penny","3","","","","","","3","","","14","1655","","Regular","2","","","","","","1","","","","John of England","","","","London","Very worn: fair","","English coin short and long cross period 1180 - 1278","John, not further defined","","","","367857","E7483_Med_SC_Penny_bent.jpg","images/cburrill2/",
