COHOR PRAE PHIL reverse type depicting three standards. Mint of Philippi. RPC I, p.308, no.1651.

From RPC I, p.308: "these coins have always been assigned to the reign of Augustus, but some doubt now attaches to this in view of their composition, which is copper rather than bronze. At Philippi, and indeed elsewhere in Macedonia, copper is not found before the reign of Claudius, so a Claudian-Neronian date seems likely."</description><notes></notes><reuse></reuse><created>2012-01-31 17:48:56</created><updated>2013-04-25 12:44:39</updated><secwfstage>3</secwfstage><findofnote>1</findofnote><objecttypecert>1</objecttypecert><datefound1></datefound1><datefound2>2011-11-07</datefound2><inscription></inscription><disccircum></disccircum><museumAccession></museumAccession><subsequentAction>1</subsequentAction><objectCertainty>1</objectCertainty><dateFromCertainty>1</dateFromCertainty><dateToCertainty>1</dateToCertainty><dateFoundFromCertainty></dateFoundFromCertainty><dateFoundToCertainty></dateFoundToCertainty><subPeriodFrom></subPeriodFrom><subPeriodTo></subPeriodTo><reason>For inclusion in British Numismatic Journal ‘Coin Register’</reason><username>acooper</username><fullname>Amy Downes</fullname><institution>SWYOR</institution><usernameUpdate>vickygyori</usernameUpdate><fullnameUpdate>Victoria Gyori</fullnameUpdate><primaryMaterial>Copper alloy</primaryMaterial><secondaryMaterial></secondaryMaterial><decoration></decoration><style></style><manufacture>Struck or hammered</manufacture><surfaceTreatment></surfaceTreatment><completeness>Complete</completeness><preservation>Fair</preservation><cert>Certain</cert><periodFrom>GREEK AND ROMAN PROVINCIAL</periodFrom><periodTo></periodTo><culture></culture><discmethod>Metal detector</discmethod><finder>Restricted information</finder><identifier>Ms Amy Downes</identifier><secondaryIdentifier>Dr Victoria Gyori</secondaryIdentifier><recorder>Ms Amy Downes</recorder><county>WEST YORKSHIRE</county><parish>ACKWORTH</parish><district>WAKEFIELD</district><easting>Restricted information</easting><northing>Restricted information</northing><gridref>Restricted information</gridref><fourFigure>SE4517</fourFigure><map25k>SE4517</map25k><map10k>SE41NE</map10k><address>Restricted information</address><postcode>Restricted information</postcode><findspotdescription>Restricted information</findspotdescription><lat>Restricted information</lat><lon>Restricted information</lon><knownas></knownas><fourFigureLat>53.647577</fourFigureLat><fourFigureLon>-1.320724</fourFigureLon><source>Calculated from postcode</source><obverse_description>Victory with a wreath and palm standing l. on base</obverse_description><obverse_inscription>VIC AVG</obverse_inscription><reverse_description>three standards</reverse_description><reverse_inscription>COHOR PRAE PHIL</reverse_inscription><denomination></denomination><degree_of_wear></degree_of_wear><allen_type></allen_type><va_type></va_type><mack></mack><reeceID></reeceID><die></die><wearID></wearID><moneyer></moneyer><revtypeID></revtypeID><categoryID></categoryID><typeID></typeID><tribeID></tribeID><status>Regular</status><rulerQualifier>3</rulerQualifier><denominationQualifier>1</denominationQualifier><mintQualifier></mintQualifier><dieAxisCertainty></dieAxisCertainty><initialMark></initialMark><reverseMintMark></reverseMintMark><statusQualifier>1</statusQualifier><tribe></tribe><region></region><area></area><ruler1>Claudius</ruler1><ruler2></ruler2><period_name></period_name><date_range></date_range><mint_name>Philippi</mint_name><wear></wear><die_axis_name></die_axis_name><category></category><type></type><emperorID></emperorID><mintid></mintid><reverseType></reverseType><i>367891</i><f>PAS_1660_829857.jpg</f><imagedir>images/acooper/</imagedir></artefact></response>
