The object is trapezoidal in plan and pelta-shaped in cross-section throughout its length. It has a slightly convex rear face. At the front there is a central vertical rib and the base is flat. The top is in the form of an old abraded break. 
This foot is corroded and is partially covered with a black substance, probably consolidated soot.
Height: 58.03mm; width: 55.44mm; thickness: 27.75mm. Weight: 206.69g.
Cast cooking vessels seem to have come into use in the second half of the 13th century and to have continued at least until c. 1600 (Geake 2001: 52). Butler, Green and Payne 2009, Finds Recording Guide - Datasheet 41.
