The beak is worn and there is a little detailing to represent flight feathers . The bird is cast in two pieces; the lower component comprises the legs and talons and an area of ground with simple scrollwork on which the bird stands. A short length of rivet protrudes through the base.
The fitting is likely to be comparatively modern and may perhaps be from a lid or other domestic vessel.</description><notes></notes><reuse></reuse><created>2012-01-31 17:00:01</created><updated>2012-01-31 17:01:00</updated><secwfstage>4</secwfstage><findofnote></findofnote><objecttypecert>1</objecttypecert><datefound1>2011-12-01</datefound1><datefound2>2011-12-31</datefound2><inscription></inscription><disccircum></disccircum><museumAccession></museumAccession><subsequentAction>1</subsequentAction><objectCertainty>1</objectCertainty><dateFromCertainty>1</dateFromCertainty><dateToCertainty>1</dateToCertainty><dateFoundFromCertainty></dateFoundFromCertainty><dateFoundToCertainty></dateFoundToCertainty><subPeriodFrom></subPeriodFrom><subPeriodTo></subPeriodTo><reason></reason><username>dwilliams</username><fullname>David Williams</fullname><institution>SUR</institution><usernameUpdate>dwilliams</usernameUpdate><fullnameUpdate>David Williams</fullnameUpdate><primaryMaterial>Copper alloy</primaryMaterial><secondaryMaterial></secondaryMaterial><decoration></decoration><style></style><manufacture>Cast</manufacture><surfaceTreatment></surfaceTreatment><completeness>Complete</completeness><preservation>Good</preservation><cert>Certain</cert><periodFrom>POST MEDIEVAL</periodFrom><periodTo></periodTo><culture></culture><discmethod>Metal detector</discmethod><finder>Restricted information</finder><identifier>Mr David W Williams</identifier><secondaryIdentifier></secondaryIdentifier><recorder>Mr David W Williams</recorder><county>BERKSHIRE</county><parish>OLD WINDSOR</parish><district>WINDSOR AND MAIDENHEAD</district><easting>Restricted information</easting><northing>Restricted information</northing><gridref>Restricted information</gridref><fourFigure>SU9874</fourFigure><map25k>SU9874</map25k><map10k>SU97SE</map10k><address>Restricted information</address><postcode>Restricted information</postcode><findspotdescription>Restricted information</findspotdescription><lat>Restricted information</lat><lon>Restricted information</lon><knownas></knownas><fourFigureLat>51.456507</fourFigureLat><fourFigureLon>-0.590898</fourFigureLon><source></source><obverse_description></obverse_description><obverse_inscription></obverse_inscription><reverse_description></reverse_description><reverse_inscription></reverse_inscription><denomination></denomination><degree_of_wear></degree_of_wear><allen_type></allen_type><va_type></va_type><mack></mack><reeceID></reeceID><die></die><wearID></wearID><moneyer></moneyer><revtypeID></revtypeID><categoryID></categoryID><typeID></typeID><tribeID></tribeID><status></status><rulerQualifier></rulerQualifier><denominationQualifier></denominationQualifier><mintQualifier></mintQualifier><dieAxisCertainty></dieAxisCertainty><initialMark></initialMark><reverseMintMark></reverseMintMark><statusQualifier></statusQualifier><tribe></tribe><region></region><area></area><ruler1></ruler1><ruler2></ruler2><period_name></period_name><date_range></date_range><mint_name></mint_name><wear></wear><die_axis_name></die_axis_name><category></category><type></type><emperorID></emperorID><mintid></mintid><reverseType></reverseType><i>367796</i><f>B11-552.jpg</f><imagedir>images/dwilliams/</imagedir></artefact></response>
