{"recordID":"485509","finds":[{"created2":"2012 01 31","description":"<p>A very corroded cast copper alloy strap fitting with a looped end, probably dating to the Medieval period. The fitting comprises of a single bar which is bent back on itself through a 180 degrees expanded loop. The two arms would have sandwiched the strap which was held in place by two large copper-alloy domed head rivets, the remains of which still survive. There are other examples recorded on the PAS database: cf. DOR-7E60D6; IOW-491836. The precise purpose of the fitting is unknown but it could possibly be an attachment for suspending a purse or keys. Objects of this type have been dated as early as Roman but the greater consensus places them in the Medieval period circa 1350-1500 AD. It measures 47 mm long, 17 mm wide, 7 mm thick and weighs 8.5 grams.<\/p>","notes":null,"old_findID":"SUSS-7E3463","id":"485509","objecttype":"STRAP FITTING","classification":null,"subclass":null,"reuse":null,"created":"2012-01-31 12:49:10","broadperiod":"MEDIEVAL","updated":"2012-02-12 12:08:00","treasureID":null,"secwfstage":"4","secuid":"PAS4F27E34600156A","findofnote":null,"objecttypecert":"2","datefound1":"2011-10-13","datefound2":null,"createdBy":"1280","curr_loc":null,"inscription":null,"reason":null,"subsequentAction":"Returned to finder"}],"record":[{"id":"485509","old_findID":"SUSS-7E3463","uniqueID":"PAS4F27E34600156A","objecttype":"STRAP FITTING","classification":null,"subclass":null,"length":"47","height":null,"width":"17","thickness":"7","diameter":null,"quantity":"1","other_ref":null,"treasureID":null,"broadperiod":"MEDIEVAL","numdate1":"1350","numdate2":"1500","description":"<p>A very corroded cast copper alloy strap fitting with a looped end, probably dating to the Medieval period.
