"485509","SUSS-7E3463","PAS4F27E34600156A","STRAP FITTING","","","47","","17","7","","1","","","MEDIEVAL","1350","1500","A very corroded cast copper alloy strap fitting with a looped end, probably dating to the Medieval period. The fitting comprises of a single bar which is bent back on itself through a 180 degrees expanded loop. The two arms would have sandwiched the strap which was held in place by two large copper-alloy domed head rivets, the remains of which still survive. There are other examples recorded on the PAS database: cf. DOR-7E60D6; IOW-491836. The precise purpose of the fitting is unknown but it could possibly be an attachment for suspending a purse or keys. Objects of this type have been dated as early as Roman but the greater consensus places them in the Medieval period circa 1350-1500 AD. It measures 47 mm long, 17 mm wide, 7 mm thick and weighs 8.5 grams.","","","2012-01-31 12:49:10","2012-02-12 12:08:00","4","","2","2011-10-13","","","","","1","2","1","1","","","","","","corbie01","Claire Goodey","SUSS","stephaniesmith","Stephanie Smith","Copper alloy","","","","","","Complete","Fair","Probably","MEDIEVAL","MEDIEVAL","","Metal detector","","Miss Stephanie Smith","Mr Garry CRACE","Mrs Claire Goodey","EAST SUSSEX","BRIGHTON","BRIGHTON AND HOVE","","","","TQ2608","TQ2608","TQ20NE","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","368743","SUSS7E3463.jpg","images/04bowmant/",
