BUCKLE
Unique ID: BERK-7CD762
Object type certainty: Certain
A cast copper alloy buckle dating to the Medieval period (c. AD 1250-1400). The buckle is D-shaped in plan and has a recessed pin bar; the frame of the buckle widens to the curve of the outer frame and is steeply beveled, giving the outer frame a concaved profile. There is the remains of (probable) scrolled and / or linear decoration on the outer edge of the frame but is too worn for further identification. There is the remains of gilding on the outer buckle frame.
