A complete post-Medieval copper-alloy mount in the form of an acorn (c. 1600-c. 1700 AD).
\nThe mount is convex at the front and slightly concave at the rear. At the front it has a pair of parallel horizontal grooves about mid-way along its length dividing the fruit from the cupola. The cupola has cross-hatched decoration. There is a small knop at each end. At the rear there are two integral tapering spikes, one at each end. Both are circular in cross-section and one is slightly off-centre.<\/p>\n
This mount has a mid to dark green patina at the front and is corroded at the rear. No indication of any surface treatment.
