LITHIC IMPLEMENT
Unique ID: DENO-2C5A97
Object type certainty: Certain
Lithic Implement: A single chunky blade fragment or possibly part of a multi-platform core. The blade has not had any retouching along the edges but scars of earlier removals are evident running at a diagonal angle across one of the faces which suggests a change in knapping direction.
The flint is a mottled pale creamy beige-grey in colour. The patina of this flint is notably different to other pieces of flint, dated to the Neolithic, recorded from the same site.
Dated to the late Mesolithic, c.6500 to c.3500 BC.
Please see other records from this area, mostly believed to be of Neolithic date but with some hints of possible Mesolithic activity in the area.
