Lithic Implement: Incomplete small flint scraper of probable Neolithic, possibly Mesolithic, date. The flake, from which the scraper is made is a secondary flake with extensive cortex covering the dorsal face. The scraping edge is created with a series of semi-abrupt removals in a U-shaped arrangement although due to more recent damage this scraping edge is incomplete. The flint is semi-translucent and has a grey-brown patina.<\/p>\n
Small scrapers, sometimes termed disc, button or thumbnail scrapers due to their form and micro-scrapers due to their size, have been dated to both the Mesolithic and Neolithic periods.
