A complete copper alloy Roman finger ring of Henig Type X. The ring has a slightly flattened hoop, appearing roughly D-shaped in plan. The ring has a large oval bezel with moulded shoulders and a raised central ridge that extends all the way around the hoop; at the shoulders this moulding is a raised V-shape. The bezel retains an oval green glass intaglio within its oval setting; the intaglio is broken but complete and appears to depict a crude standing figure with arms hanging so the body appears T-shaped; there appears to be a circular object at the figure's feet and the head is depicted by a simple circle. A similar intaglio is recorded by Henig (1978) as coming from Vindolanda in third century levels; the ring type is also of third century date, possibly dating from the first half of the third century, c. AD 200-250.
