MOUNT
Unique ID: NCL-9571F7
Object type certainty: Certain
An incomplete, cast, lead-alloy mount of Post-Medieval date, c. 1600-1800.
The mount consists of probable sub-rectangular body with concave side lengths, and an extended rectangular terminal with a slightly flared end. The mount is broken at each end. The break at the wider end has the body bent and may be indicative of a hinge or some other type of fitting. The body has incised decoration of two lines that parallel each other with diagonal moulding in between, emulating a cord, tracing the outline of the object. The reverse is undecorated.
A very similar object, but in copper alloy and slightly more complete, was found nearby (NCL-955D55).
This is a find of note and has been designated: Include in MedArch
