A copper alloy seal matrix dating to the Medieval period. The matrix consists of a hexagonal suspension loop attached to a sub rectangular shank and a circular panel. The circular panel is decorated with an image of a stag in the centre of an incised circular border. The inscription around the edge of the panel reads CIV__L. The matrix is worn and the metal is dark brown. It weighs 9.0g and measures 21.69mm in height. The diameter of the circular panel is 18.18mm in diameter and the width of the loop is 9.03mm.
