A complete Medieval silver iconographic finger-ring (1400-1500 AD). Treasure case no. 2012 T42.
The ring has a two-faceted bezel, each engraved with decoration. One facet has a human figure, possibly a saint, and the other facet is unclear due to wear. 'Stab' marks are barely visible on the shoulders.
This ring is very worn and may have been gilded. It was complete when found and accidentally broken by the finder.
22.56mm (length); 7.28mm (width); 2.93mm (thickness). Weight: 3.23g.

Discovery: Found by Wayne Hobbs while metal-detecting in December 2011 and recorded by Frank Basford (Isle of Wight FLO).

Discussion: This ring is very worn and may have been gilded. It was complete when found and accidentally broken by the finder.
Dimensions: 22.56mm (length); 7.28mm (width); 2.93mm (thickness). Weight: 3.23g.
Metal content: The find contains a minimum of 10% silver and predates 1712. It thus qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996 in terms of precious metal content and age.
