A lead object, proabably a finial, which is an ornament used in architecture to decorate a gable or pinnacle. The object is a negroes head with a sub rectangular shank protruding where the body should be. The head of the negro is slightly upturned and there is appears to be a carved hat on top of the head. The face is carved into the lead and a neck is apparant. A similar object can be found on this database (NARC-DC03B3). The object is probably Modern and possibly dates to the 19th century at the time of colonial expansion. The metal is white and the object is well preserved. It weighs 82.7g and measures 62.99mm in length, the head is 19.12mm wide and the face is 24.48mm thick.
