A flint core. The core is roughly pointed oval in cross-section and roughly rectangular in plan. The proximal end is flat and all of the elongated flakes now represented by scars and bulbs of percussion run from this end. Some of the scars have a reddish-rust coloured patina. Probably late Mesolithic given the style of flake removal.
