Complete cast copper alloy mount of Roman date. The mount is circular with a moulded front and hollow reverse. The mount depicts Medusa looking forwards with wavy hair framing the face and the rounded nubs of two wings protruding from the top of the head amongst the hair. The perimeter of the mount has a sub-square cut-out behind the wings suggesting that a handle or other fitting slotted into this mount. No means of affixing the mount is present on the reverse which implies it was soldered or embedded onto the vessel or furniture item from which it came.

Mounts of this type are not closely datable and it is therefore dated broadly to the Roman period, AD. c.43-410.
